Breaking the Wall

Breaking the Wall

When we met, I had a wall up
One look at you put a tiny crack in that wall
Over the course if a year, that crack spread little by little
You wanted to talk about the future, and it sprung a leak
Then, we made love, and the leak grew
Now, every time I see you it grows
I have a feeling that, one day,
The waters of love will break the wall away
And my heart will overflow with love for you

Twisted rigid structure

Line it up

Thinking of compunction

Line it up

Straight narrow mind

Line it up

Please be kind

Line it up

Don’t touch me or yell

Line it up

Too loud, too bright

Line it up

Can’t let go to grow

Line it up

Sadness rage joy

Line it up

So much for one boy

This Thing We Have

This thing we have

your absence saddens me so

will i ever get used to this?
how will i react when you’re not in so good a mood
what will we do when one of us is not happy?
will you be able to deal with my moods?
the spontaneous crying for no reason and sporadic depression
will we be able to work through these things?
I know our lives together can’t always be perfect and happy
will we learn each other’s idiosyncrasies?
what I do know, is that I want to
I want to be there to cheer you up when you’ve had a bad day
I want to share the silence with you when words aren’t needed
I want your arms to hold me in comfort
I want your smile to brighten my dark days
I want to feel love in your warm embrace

As I Wait

“As I Wait”

The touch of your hands,
The feel of your warm embrace,
I see the ocean in your eyes, and
Happiness in your face.

Longing to be with you,
To feel the warmth of your skin,
And taste your sweet kiss.

I long for your love,
To be your everything.
Fear has a hold of my heart,
And tongue.

Want to see the future,
Grow old together,
And raise our family.

Ready to make some changes,
To start anew.
Ready to build a life,
A life with you.

First poem after 10 years of writer’s block

Missing you

I’m talking without speaking
Hearing without listening
Looking without seeing
Learning without knowing
Touching without feeling

Then, you’re here,
and suddenly the world
Has color and sunshine.
Birds sing and wind blows,
I get lost in your eyes,
Hang on every word,
Not wanting it to end

     and then
we say good-bye
   and once again

I’m talking without speaking
Hearing without listening
Looking without seeing
Learning without knowing
Touching without feeling
